Hayfield House Passes the Final Blower Door Test

The owners of the Hayfield House in Bolton, CT have happily reported that the project has scored an extraordinarily low air infiltration rate during their final blower door test.  Data from the test — the final piece of information required in the project’s bid for passive house certification — has been sent to Passive House Academy for verification.  The exemplary results reflect the owners’ and general contractor’s (Cooper Lane Builders, Inc.) commitment to the design’s air sealing details and specifications, on which they rigorously collaborated with our office throughout the construction process. We’re also happy to hear that the results are being felt well beyond the blower door data, as the family is completely settled in and enjoying very cozy interior temperatures during this particularly frigid New England winter.  You can visit the Hayfield House blog to review the construction photos, see the completed home, and to get a first-hand account of the comforts of Passive House living.
