With 37 buildings—totaling more than 36,000 square feet—on a 140-acre site, the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio’s Bellwether Farm is one of GO Logic’s largest projects to date. And as the completion date for this environmentally focused camp and retreat center approaches, we’re pleased with both the process and the outcome.

A tight budget and the site’s distance from our Belfast, Maine, office presented challenges along the way, but close collaboration among owner, architect, and tradespeople has kept the project on schedule, on budget, and up to our standard of quality execution.

Rather than follow the conventional route of bidding the job out to a general contractor, the owner engaged the services of a construction management advisor and hired all of the project’s subcontractors directly. That unusually flat management structure—along with a flexible and engaged client—created a refreshingly open, collegial atmosphere among the many trades involved. This is one job site we’ve always looked forward to visiting.

All of the buildings are now getting their interior finishes, and the camp will host its first retreat participants in September. We hope that their experience in this special place reflects the same spirit of cooperation and teamwork that built it.
