2013 PHIUS Conference

Alan Gibson, GO Logic principal, will be speaking, for the 4th year running, at the PHIUS national conference on October 18 in Pittsburgh, PA. The subject of the presentation is “Design, Build, Refine, Repeat: Using a Systems Approach to Replicate Passive House Construction.”

The conference is an annual event for the Passive House Institute US, the leading passive house organization in the US. PHIUS was founded by Katrin Klingenberg in 2007 to promote Passive House building through education and a certification program. Matt and Alan first heard her speak at a conference in 2006 in Boston, where German folks from Passive House International were introducing the concept to the US. It was the impetus GO Logic needed to design the GO Home, which was later certified by PHIUS. PHIUS continues to work to promote the PH concept, and the annual conference is their showcase. The organization has grown significantly over the years, and now draws hundreds of attendees and speakers from all over. GO Logic got in early and presented on the GO Home in 2010 a few months after it was completed. The talk this time is not so much about one particular project, but about how GO Logic has developed a systems approach to meeting the standard in cold climates using the same foundation, wall, roof, air sealing and mechanical equipment multiple times to streamline the design to construction process.
